Foundation Training, developed by Dr. Eric Goodman, is a series of postures designed to strengthen the posterior muscle chain and to counteract the effects of gravity on the body. The compression our bodies endure from daily life can be a contributing factor to injury and pain. We live in a culture that loves to sit, but sitting, by its nature, is not conducive to health. Using breath and movement, Foundation postures help decompress the spine and realign the body so that it can move more efficiently. Although Foundation Training is relatively new to my personal routine and to the fitness world, it is now a regular part of my daily activities. One of the best things about it is that it does not take long to reap the benefits. Even five to ten minutes a day is beneficial.
